Tree mallows or shrubby mallows are fast growing short-lived perennials that flower in their first year, and develop rapidly in size to form large bushy shrubs. Throughout summer they bear masses of large, open, white to pale pink blooms with a bright red eye. 
Lavatera ‘Barnsley’ has striking soft pink flowers with a darker centre.
