The rock has been fractured or crushed meaning it has 1 or 2 flat sides, which makes it better for packing the rounded rock. Crushed rock is widely used in drainage applications such as foundations and French drains, septic drain fields, retaining wall drains, and road side edge drains. Crushed rock is also used as base material under foundations, roads, and railroads. Smaller sized crushed rock such as ½” and ¾“ can be used for decorative landscaping, ground cover and for driveways.
